Sumarsýning: Fjær / Afield

Sumarsýning Skaftfells opnar 4.6.2022, kl. 16-18, í sýningarsalnum.
Leiðsögn með Þorgerði Ólafsdóttur og Becky Forsythe verður 5. júní, kl. 11:00.

Listamenn: Diane Borsato, Geoffrey Hendricks & Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir.
Á sýningunni eru einnig steinar sem Nicoline Weywadt safnaði og jarðfundnir plastmunir frá fornleifauppgreftinum við bæinn Fjörð á Seyðisfirði, sumrin 2020 og 2021.

Á sýningunni Fjær er safnað saman samtímalist og munum úr náttúru- og minjasöfnum sem tengjast innbyrðis og hafa skírskotanir í himininn, jarðfræði, könnun á landi og sýnatökur. Rýnt er í samband manns og umhverfis og staða okkar á tímum mannaldar rakin í gegnum vettvangsvinnu, athafnir og rannsóknir.

Skaftfell's summer exhibition opens on June 4, 16-18:00 in the gallery.
A guided tour with Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir and Becky Forsythe will be held on June 5 at 11:00.

Participating artists: Diane Borsato, Geoffrey Hendricks, Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir
The exhibition also includes minerals collected by Nicoline Weywadt and excavated plastic objects from the archeological site at the farm Fjörður in Seyðisfjörður, dug up during the summer of 2020 and 2021.

Afield assembles contemporary artworks and objects from natural history and archaeological collections that center themes and references to the sky, geology, land exploration and extraction. The exhibition digs into the human relationship with the environment, and through fieldwork, performance and research, traces our current position in the anthropocene.
