Lumen printing is a photographic process close to cyanotype, yet it looks more like painting. Each photo produces a unique and colourful image without using any chemicals. By using only photographic paper, sunlight and objects, we will experiment with shapes and textures to make both figurative and abstract prints.

Ströndin Studio will supply the photographic materials, while participants may bring their ideas and some interesting objects to make images with. Leaves, flowers, lace, paper cutouts or anything that has an interesting shape or texture works well. We’ll also have some materials on hand to play around with.

Workshop leader Dianne Bos is a visiting artist from Alberta, Canada who will be in residency with Skaftfell Art Center during May 2023 for Ljósmyndadagar á Seyðisfirði. Dianne is one of the world’s leading practitioners in alternative photographic processes, and has been exhibiting internationally for over 40 years.
